What is static pressure and why does it matter?

Think of it as the resistance your duct system pushes back with. Every metre of duct, every bend, every filter and grille adds some, and the total is what the blower has to overcome.

Past a certain point the blower simply cannot move the air it was designed to, so capacity falls even though the equipment is working perfectly. Because it is a number we can measure, it settles the question of whether the ducts or the machine are at fault.

Why does one room never cool properly no matter what I do?

That is almost always a distribution problem rather than an equipment problem. A run that is too long, too restricted, crushed, disconnected in the attic, or simply undersized will never deliver its share of air regardless of how hard the system works.

Lowering the thermostat overcools every other room while that one stays uncomfortable, which is why the fix is in the ducts and not the equipment. Zoning is sometimes the better long-term answer.

Why does attic ductwork matter so much in Florida?

Most duct runs here pass through attics that reach extreme temperatures, so cold air travelling through them picks up heat before it ever reaches the room. Poorly insulated or leaking attic ducts lose capacity you have already paid to produce.

Leaks on the return side are worse still, drawing hot, humid attic air directly into the system and raising both cooling load and indoor humidity at the same time.
